Sikkim  

This Himalayan state is bordered by the Republic of China, Nepal and Bhutan in the north, west and east. The Indian state of West Bengal borders in the south is the lone entry to Sikkim via Rangpo.  Sikkim remoteness, diversified options, Himalayas, snow etc makes it a fascinating state. It certainly is one of the most energetic and refreshing of the state of north East India. Mountainous beauty, snowfall, orchids, butterflies, lakes, monasteries are some of the options makes the state a perfect destinations for holiday. The state of Sikkim is mountainous with the majestic mount Khangchendzonga and the other peaks like mount Siniolchu, mount Pandim, mount Narsing, mount Jopuno etc serves as the background of the state.  At 8586 meters mount Khangchendzonga is the third highest peak in the world. Local sightseeing at Pelling, Gangtok, Lachen, Lachung, etc requires at least one to three nights stay at each destination. Travelling takes time in hills hence it’s advisable to have the transfer and sightseeing on separate date. Sightseeing and transfer in a day will be bit tiring. Inner Line permit (ILP) are generally part of the package planned hence a voter ID card / Driving License along with 4 passport size photograph is required. ILP is required for Tsomgo Lake, Nathu La Pass and North Sikkim i.e. Lachung, Chungthang, Mangan, Lachen, etc visit.

Sikkim is divided into four district as South district, West district, North district and East district. North District has Mangan, Chungthang, Dzongu, Lachung, Singheik, Lachen, Phodong, Kabi, Gurudongmar, Yumthang, etc. East district places of interest includes places like Gangtok, Aritar, Rumtek, Tsomgo / Changu Lake, Nathu La  pass, Ranka, Zuluk, Nathang Valley, Rhenock, Rongli, etc. West district places of interest are Soreng, Varsey, Dentam, Sombaria, Gyalshing, Legship, Tashiding, Uttarey, Rinchenpong, Yuksam, Pelling, Kecheopalri Lake, Pemayangste, Hee Bermoik, etc. South district have places like Namchi, Ravangla, Jorethang, Samdruptse, Solophok, etc. Trekking, River Rafting, Mountain Biking, Mountaineering, Yak Riding, Bird Watching, Parks, Sanctuaries, Sikkim Paragliding are some of the adventure tourist can look forward to. Home stays are the attractions among tourists. Like other stays or visit home stay is getting popular. It is also developing fast in Sikkim. Communication

Airway – Bagdogra Airport (IXB) is the nearest airport to Gangtok, Aritar, Ravangla, Pelling and all other major towns of Sikkim. The state has its own chopper flying to and fro Gangtok – Bagdogra airport. Regular service from Bagdogra to Gangtok is the scheduled at least once a day. Bagdogra Airport (IXB) is approximately 130 kilometers from Gangtok and 140 kilometers from Pelling and is served by regular flights from Kolkata, Guwahati, Chennai and Delhi are scheduled.
Railway – New Jalpaiguri railway station (NJP) is the nearest major railway station and is nearly 135 kilometers away and a 4 - 5 hours drive to Gangtok / Pelling. New Jalpaiguri Station is well connected to the rest of India. Regular train services to all the major destinations of India like Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Bangalore, etc. Roadway – Gangtok is well connected with NH 31 A and is 135 kilometers away from New Jalpaiguri railway station (NJP) / Bagdogra Airport (IXB) and Pelling is 140 kilometers from Siliguri.
