Trekking Routes

Trekking needs no prior training, but one should follow some do's and don'ts. It's better to choose the trek routes according to one's own stamina and interest. One should maintain the pace of the trek and enjoy it without exhaustion. The trek will be shorter, less tiring, and without the problems associated with high altitude, technical climbing experience is not necessary as most of the trek routes are below 15000 feet. Camping & other trekking equipment is available on hire from the tourism department or through us or other trekking agents. We take every precaution is taken to ensure guest safety and security. Trekking gives an idea of surviving with the basic minimum requirement of life and brings out the energy and enthusiasms and the bonus is the body weight reduction and you carry home the freshness and memories to be cherished for ever.

Easy at bit higher altitude or low altitude, trekking from 900 meters / 3000 feet to 2000 meters / 6500 feet with relatively short distances at a more relaxed pace is for the amateur. Accommodation will be in comfortable lodges run by local families or trekkers hut or Camps. The trek starts in these regions and includes all meals, road head transports, services of an experienced local trek guide and porter to carry luggage. Clients carry day - pack only and walk at their own pace. We will always take the safety and security of guest is the prime factor while trekking. Cooked food, packed food, beverages, etc are always served as per the plan given in writing to guest in advance.

Season – March through May and through November is the ideal time for the trek. It might be possible to push it half a month on either end, but remember that days get very short at the high latitude of the route, which is not far from the Tibet / China border. Two seasons are best for trek, they are as follows

  • March - May
  • Mid November – Mid December

Physical Fitness - Physically one should be fit enough to walk and one should not have major (heart and lungs related) problems which need immediate medical help. An hour a day of walking is enough for initial trekkers to start with.

Guide and Porter - For the first or maybe only trip to Himalaya, it’s good to consider reducing the stress and increasing your time to enjoy the experience hence advisable to have porter and guide - More importantly, having a Nepali / Lepcha / Bhutia / Sherpa sharing the trip with you brings so much more to the trip, things that are difficult to quantify - One has no trouble doing the popular route on your own but try a local guide and porter as per your choice only - Reservations at local homes wherever camping out are a bit dicey would be a good idea in the route - Our porter’s are generally one who has been on a number of treks, speaks some English and decent – They sometime doubles up as cook too - It’s not that easy to find a porter or a  guide - Especially in peak season so we welcome early bookings - Porters usually carry up to 20 kilograms / 40 Pounds

We are decent in organizing your trek, from picking you up from the airport, to all other logistical requirements. If you go trekking with us we have our guides and porters insured. Hence if anything happens to them you are not liable and we take care of the rest. But again this does not absolve you of the moral responsibility towards your employees on trek, and you still need to take due care e.g. that they have adequate shelter, clothing etc. A cultural note - It is customary to tip the guide and porters but not compulsory - These people put a lot of effort in to make your adventure holiday memorable, look after you, even protect you and will try their heart out to  make your trip memorable - Whichever way one chooses to trek, whatever one chose to tour, one will always enjoy Himalaya. It is an amazing place.

Things to carry - Guest should have quality rucksack, sleeping foam mat,  Swiss knife, sleeping bag, good sleepers / Shoes, trekking shoes, rain coat, lighter, camera, water bottle, disposable bags to collect and carry garbage and torch are some of the essential items to carry for the trip. We will advice to have some basic medicines for infection, nausea and cuts - Cold cream is a must preferably petroleum jelly.  One should have warm clothes, preferably warm jacket, warm / woolen shirts, full selves T - shirts, pullovers, warm inner - Shorts, socks, leather jacket, toiletries.
